Sugar Australia, the nation's largest refined sugar producer, is seeking a skilled Sugar Refinery Operations Specialist to join our team in Mackay, Queensland.

The successful candidate will be responsible for operating refinery plant in a safe and efficient manner, upholding quality and following set procedures. This includes:

  • FOLLOWING all safety, health & environmental procedures relevant to the site and complying with Wilmar's Onsite policies.
  • ASSISTING with safety risk assessments, identifying hazards, and notifying safety incidents to STL and/or completing an incident report.
  • SAFELY and competently operating machinery and equipment onsite while following set procedures.
  • CONTRIBUTING to the identification of efficiencies in processes, equipment, and resources which will decrease operating costs and minimise waste.
  • USING the SCADA system and testing equipment to verify, control & process input product suitable for next step of process.
  • COMPLETING all quality-related checks and recording all information/results accurately and at the times stated.
  • IDENTIFYING and reporting any food quality issues.
  • PROACTIVELY engaging and committing to the Achievement Plan and monthly milestone process to continue driving a performance and development culture.
  • PROVIDING leadership and guidance to others as needed.
  • BUILDING and maintaining strong relationships across the business.

We are looking for someone who can bring the following skills and qualifications:

  • HIGH SCHOOL CERTIFICATE
  • EFFECTIVE communication skills (verbal and written).
  • ABLE to work shift work.
  • ABLE to solve problems and think conceptually.
  • EFFECTIVELY managing pressure and work-related stress.
  • ENJOYING working in a team environment. A team player who is fair and equitable in dealing with others.
  • PREVIOUS experience with shift work in a sugar factory environment is desirable.

The ideal candidate will have great communication, initiative, and decision-making skills. They will be conceptual, flexible, and adaptable, with the ability to drive strong outcomes together.

We offer a competitive salary package, including a salary estimated to be around $80,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus onsite parking, hybrid working, annual bonus program, access to an EAP provider, an annual achievement plan, and access to our product library for those passionate bakers at heart.
