About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Laboratory Assistant to join our dedicated team at Sutherland Hospital. In this role, you will assist laboratory staff in performing a range of laboratory support and specimen reception services.

Responsibilities include stock control, equipment maintenance, administrative tasks, accurate specimen identification, data entry, and distribution. You will contribute to delivering high-quality pathology services committed to patient care and safety.

  • Key responsibilities include performing general laboratory activities such as assisting with technical procedures and maintaining accurate records.
  • You will provide excellent customer service skills, preferably in a laboratory environment, including effective communication with customers, patients, and clinical staff.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills combined with the ability to investigate and resolve general issues within the laboratory environment.
  • Awareness of legislation, policies, and requirements relevant to a laboratory setting is essential.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A working knowledge of all aspects of the laboratory environment relevant to the Department.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain high quality work output while managing competing priorities.
  • Excellent data entry skills including high attention to detail and data accuracy.
