Security Strategist

We are seeking a seasoned Principal Security Engineer to join our team at PaperCut Software in Melbourne, Australia. This is a full-time contract position with a salary of $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience.
Job DescriptionAs a key member of our security team, you will be responsible for embedding security into every stage of the software development lifecycle. Your expertise will help us tackle big risks by leading risk assessments and creating proactive solutions to mitigate vulnerabilities. You will also design and implement security policies and standards that foster secure coding, robust testing, and early detection of vulnerabilities.
You will lead the charge on incidents, from containment to root cause analysis, ensuring we come back stronger every time. Additionally, you will mentor engineers and foster a security-first culture within the organization.
You will collaborate globally with external security researchers as part of our pen-test, bounty, research, and uplift programs. Your contribution will be invaluable in ensuring we stay ahead of emerging threats.
Requirements- Experience designing and implementing security strategies across complex systems, including low-level native code, web apps, and IoT integrations.
- Hands-on experience managing incidents from discovery to resolution, turning lessons learned into measurable improvements.
- Mentoring skills to share expertise in secure coding, threat modelling, and vulnerability management.
- Product-focused company experience, balancing innovation and commercial needs while managing risk.
- Ability to solve challenges related to cloud security, compliance, and emerging threats.
