We are seeking an experienced Data Strategist to drive business growth through innovative data-driven solutions. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a strategy for integrating external data sources into our data ecosystem to enhance existing data insights.
  • Use data analytics and machine learning techniques to transform raw external data into actionable insights that support business decisions and identify growth opportunities.
  • Establish an insurance data warehouse to enable pricing, underwriting, reporting, and insurance business decisions.
  • Respond and manage regulatory and stakeholder data requirements.
  • Lead the data function, including vision, strategy, planning, growth, and development of the team.
  • Manage a medium-sized team consisting of data analysts, data engineers, and data scientists.
  • Establish core data governance practices.
  • Develop analytics and business intelligence to support business decision-making, including self-serve visualizations, hypothesis testing, and statistical modeling.
  • Implement new analytical tools as necessary.
  • Partner with senior leadership teams and cross-functional teams (Product, Pricing, Claims, and Risk Services) to understand their data needs and ensure external data insights align with company goals.

Requirements:

  • +7 years background in insurance data science, analytics, or data engineering within the general insurance industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in incorporating third-party data sources to derive insights.
  • Proven experience building and managing a team.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with people from technical and non-technical backgrounds and use data to tell a story.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced growth environment.
  • Experience articulating a vision and strategy up and down an organization.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in both large and medium-sized businesses, or different types of businesses.
  • Experience building a data function from an underdeveloped state.
