Our Homelessness Melbourne Metro Catering Services provides support to single men experiencing homelessness with a history of trauma, disadvantage, mental health, and chronic health issues over three residential sites in Melbourne.

As a Casual Kitchen Hand, you will play a vital role in ensuring that the kitchen area complies with the minimum Health Department standards.

You will provide quality food and kitchen services which meets staff and residents' food and service requirements ensuring all services respect the rights and dignity of residents.

Responsibilities:

  • Organise and prepare food
  • Receive and store kitchen supplies
  • Clean and maintain kitchen premises and equipment
  • Use of all personal protective safety equipment such as disposable gloves
  • Follow workplace hygiene procedures
  • Actively contribute to building a strong culture in the team and across the service based on mutual respect and collaboration with colleagues and residents

This is a Casual position located in Melbourne. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award, Level 1.

Requirements:

  • Experience in a residential setting and a Food Handlers Certificate would be desirable and this will be provided to any applicants who do not have this certification
  • Certificate 1 in Hospitality (Kitchen Operations) (or equivalent) or demonstrated equivalent relevant experience, knowledge and skills
