Senior Open Source Development Manager Job Description

We are a leading provider of open source software and operating systems to the global enterprise and technology markets. Our platform is widely used in breakthrough initiatives such as public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation, and IoT.

This role is a general track for Senior+ Engineers in any team. After the first round of interviews, we will establish which teams might be an excellent fit and progress your application with them.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Leading Design and Architecture of Impactful Projects: You will lead the design and architecture of impactful projects that contribute to our mission.
  2. Coding in Various Programming Languages: Proficiency in Golang, Rust, Python, C/C++, or Typescript/React is required.
  3. Collaboration with Globally Distributed Teams: You will collaborate proactively with globally distributed teams to achieve common goals.
  4. Mentoring and Career Development: You will mentor, develop, and advise colleagues in their career progression.
  5. Technical Leadership and Community Engagement: Displaying technical leadership in our communities and contributing to technical documentation are essential responsibilities.
  6. Debugging and Code Quality: Debugging issues and producing high-quality code to fix them is critical to our success.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • An Exceptional Academic Record: An exceptional academic record from both high school and university is required.
  • Computer Science Degree or Alternative Path: An undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM, or a compelling narrative about your alternative path is necessary.
  • Drive and Technical Leadership: Drive and technical leadership as well as team motivation, direction, and pace are crucial.
  • Programming Experience: Deep experience with at least one of Go, Rust, Python, or C is required.
  • Conscientiousness and Communication Skills: Conscientiousness and detail orientation, with a focus on performance, and excellent communication skills including professional written and spoken English are essential.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability are required.
