Job Title: CAD Design Technician

Job Description
  • We are hiring a skilled AutoCAD operator to work with engineers and designers on complex projects, creating detailed drawings in a collaborative environment using computer-aided design software.
Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Develops thorough understanding of Wastewater Treatment Plant/Facility design concepts.
  2. Utilizes advanced knowledge of computer design software to produce detailed drawings for multiple concurrent projects.
  3. Revises or modifies existing drawings, completing standard calculations as instructed.
  4. Plots maps and charts showing profiles and cross-sections, indicating topographical contours, elevations, and structures.
  5. Completes site layout, dimension control plans, redline cleanup, detail sheet setup, plotting, and exhibits.
  6. Creates detailed drawings of structures and installations such as buildings, roads, culverts, fresh water supply, sewage disposal systems, and dikes.
  7. Lays out and scales components of each drawing, prepares plot plans, section views, elevations, and details required.
  8. Completes assigned basic drafting tasks and print production of plan set.
  9. Provides accurate time estimates required to complete tasks.
  10. Demonstrates advanced knowledge of CAD software tools and techniques including surface creation, pipe network editing, and other applications.
  11. Prepares preliminary drawings, sketches, and notes for other CAD Operators.
  12. Maintains organized file management of CAD files and documents.
  13. Identifies opportunities for process improvements and recommends best practices.
Qualifications
  • Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school plus more than 5 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrates advanced proficiency in software such as MicroStation/Geopak, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, or ArcGIS. Possesses basic knowledge of drawing elements including surfaces, corridors, and utility alignments.
  • Ability to read and interpret various documents such as safety protocols, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and handle variable situations where standardization is limited.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
