Job Summary: The Co-ordinator Patient Support Unit (PSU) role is responsible for supporting stakeholders to facilitate work from PSU teams, delivering rapid prioritisation and assessment of patients on planned surgery and outpatient preparation lists.

The Co-ordinator PSU is accountable for engaging with stakeholders to facilitate work from the PSU teams, to deliver rapid prioritisation and assessment of patients on planned surgery, and outpatient preparation lists across both Werribee Mercy Hospital (WMH) and Mercy Hospital for Women (MHW). The Co-ordinator PSU reports directly to the Divisional Director Perioperative & Specialist Services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with stakeholders to facilitate work from PSU teams
  • Deliver rapid prioritisation and assessment of patients on planned surgery and outpatient preparation lists
  • Manage projects within a healthcare service
  • Interact with patients and manage patient feedback
  • Knowledge of administrative processes within the surgical and ambulatory services
  • Ability to understand and describe business processes in the healthcare context
  • Experience working within a multi-stakeholder environment including capacity to engage and influence at all levels

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in data systems to support timely reporting and governance
  • Demonstrated experience in leading change
  • Experience interacting with patients and managing patient feedback
  • Knowledge of administrative processes within the surgical and ambulatory services
  • Ability to understand and describe business processes in the healthcare context
  • Experience working within a multi-stakeholder environment including capacity to engage and influence at all levels
  • Ability to build relationships with people at all levels
  • Ability to manage and work as part of a team
  • Capacity for constructive self-reflection and learning from actions and feedback
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Demonstrated ability in effective and appropriate delegation in decision making
  • Well-developed consultative and collaborative leadership skills
  • High-level conceptual and analytical skills, able to respond quickly in a complex, evolving environment
  • High-level analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Able to negotiate outcomes with senior management and project stakeholders
  • Proficient in multiple computer applications including MS Word, MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS project and ability to learn and utilise other software systems

Additional Requirements:

  • A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check
  • Current COVID-19 certificate, proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders
