The Northern Tasmanian Pathology Service is a leading provider of pathology services in the region. As a medical researcher, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team working together to deliver high-quality patient care and support.
About the RoleThis permanent part-time position involves working 64 hours per fortnight. The successful applicant will be required to assist the Medical Scientist-in-Charge in Microbiology with the efficient running of the department and undertaking assigned tasks to meet departmental objectives.
- Liaising with pathologists, laboratory managers, other departmental staff, and clinical staff as part of their normal duties.
- Undertaking multidisciplinary working experience within a microbiology department and experience of working in a team environment are essential.
A postgraduate qualification relevant to microbiology will be an advantage.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe key responsibilities of this role include:
- Assisting the Medical Scientist-in-Charge in Microbiology with the efficient running of the department.
- Undertaking assigned tasks to meet departmental objectives.
- Liaising with pathologists, laboratory managers, other departmental staff, and clinical staff.
To be considered for this role, applicants must have:
- Tertiary qualification/program of study in Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, or Science or Applied Science or equivalent suitable to the position from a recognised institution.
- Eligible for membership with a relevant professional body such as Australian Institute of Medical and Clinical Scientists, Australasian Association for Clinical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine, The Australian Society for Microbiology, Human Genetics Society of Australasia or the Australian Society of Cytology.
