Youth Development Officer

We are seeking experienced and passionate support workers with excellent availability to join our dedicated team.
Our ideal candidate will have a genuine commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of young people engaged with the child protection system who have disabilities.
- Support young people with physical, intellectual, or psychosocial impairments in building independence through personalised care plans.
- Provide personal care, including dressing, bathing, grooming, medication management, and toileting.
- Empower young people to develop life skills like meal preparation, household chores, and cleaning.
- Facilitate participation in community activities and manage the logistics involved.
- Support engagement in education, vocational activities, and skill development.
- Help young people build social skills and maintain relationships with family, peers, and social networks.
- Accompany young people to appointments, ensuring their needs and opinions are respected.
- Organise and support leisure activities, encouraging hobbies and personal interests.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing individualised support to young people with complex needs.
- Developing and implementing tailored care plans that promote independence and well-being.
- Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Maintaining accurate records and reports as required.
- Participating in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, applicants must possess:
- A minimum Certificate 4 in a related discipline, such as Youth Work or human services qualifications.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in Youth Work, Disability Support or relevant field.
- Previous experience as a support worker within a disability context with demonstrated experience of trauma informed care.
- Proficient computer skills and experience using Microsoft Office software.
- Hold or be willing to obtain various working with children checks and certifications.
