Job Title: Fitter Machinist

We are seeking a highly skilled Fitter Machinist to join our team at Skilled Jobs Australia. As a key member of our workshop, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional performance and contributing to our commitment to ZERO Harm.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work in a safe and productive manner, adhering to all health and safety protocols.
  • Assist in the continual improvement of processes to optimize efficiency and productivity.
  • Read detailed drawings to manufacture parts with precision and accuracy.
  • Operate conventional workshop equipment, including Lathe, Milling, Surface Grinding, and Cylindrical Grinding machines, to manufacture parts from various metals and material types.
  • CNC machine operation and programming, including Siemens and Mazatrol controllers, to produce high-quality parts.
  • Measure and check parts for tolerance and fits according to specified tolerances.
  • Fitting of parts into sub-assemblies and machines, ensuring accurate and precise assembly.
  • Undertake maintenance and repairs of machines and equipment, ensuring optimal performance and minimizing downtime.
  • Provide technical support to ensure all works are completed to health and safety, environment, and quality requirements.
  • Perform operational maintenance of machines, and overhauling and repairing of mechanical parts, to ensure equipment is in good working condition.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers and customers.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Recognized trade qualification as Fitter Machinist, or 1st Class Metal Machinist.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality results.
  • Proven technical competency in precision metal machinery, with a strong understanding of CNC machine operation and programming.
  • Proactive safety focus, with a commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Ability to manage your own time and be self-motivated, with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills, with a positive attitude to work and a willingness to collaborate with colleagues.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a strong organizational and team working skills.
  • Disciplined attention to detail and accuracy, with a strong focus on quality and precision.
  • A current driver's license, with a reliable vehicle for transportation to and from work.
