The Assistant Tax Manager is a key member of the Group Finance function of Maxxia Pty Ltd, responsible for managing all tax compliance requirements pursuant to Australian and New Zealand income taxation laws, across direct and indirect tax obligations.
This role can be conducted from Melbourne, Brisbane, or Sydney.
The Assistant Tax Manager will utilise technical and professional skills/knowledge to ensure compliance requirements are met in a timely manner with effective communication to the Group Tax Manager, ensuring clear and proper records are maintained in an efficient and effective manner.
The Assistant Tax Manager will also support adherence to taxation policies and will assist to maintain an effective tax governance and reporting framework to identify and minimise taxation risks and ensure a high assurance that the right amount of taxation liabilities is discharged.
The Assistant Tax Manager will assist the Group Tax Manager in researching technical issues and providing relevant advice to the business.
Key Responsibilities- Preparation of the income tax return of the Australian Tax Consolidated Group and New Zealand entities in compliance with regulatory requirements on a timely basis.
- Preparation of income tax computations using appropriate tax positions that are compliant with tax legislation, best practice, and Maxxia Pty Ltd's taxation policy.
- Preparation of annual and half-yearly tax effect accounting and related tax disclosures for financial reporting for Australian and NZ entities.
- Maintain statutory registers (franking account) and relevant taxation records.
- Preparation of relevant returns for indirect taxation including supporting analysis when necessary.
- Continual development and enhancement of the reporting systems and processes for an efficient tax reporting process.
- Keeping up to date with changes to tax legislation and providing value-add tax advice to the business as required.
- At least 5 years of tax management and accounting in practice and/or industry in a corporate or professional services environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of taxation legislation in Australia.
- Strong taxation technical skills, in particular corporate income taxation.
- Knowledge of financial reporting as it relates to tax effect accounting.
- Strong analytical, interpretational, and reporting skills.
- Strong engagement, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
