Job Description

As a General Practitioner, you will be responsible for delivering primary medical care to patients in accordance with professional standards, legislation, and Defence Policies and Procedures.

  • You will form part of a multidisciplinary team working toward the shared purpose of achieving and maintaining the health and wellbeing of Defence members.
  • You will play an integral role in assessing Defence personnel for fitness for duty and in the provision of care that will support the health and wellbeing of members pre and post deployments.
  • You will be required to provide medical technical advice to senior officers and colleagues.
  • You will be supported by a team of experienced medical professionals.
  • You may be required to provide services in either an outpatient setting or inpatient care setting within a ward.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Medical Practitioner, General in Australia with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) OR, Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) OR Vocational Registration.
  • Minimum of 2 years full-time post graduate general practitioner experience in a general practice setting within the last 5 years (or part-time equivalent).
  • Recent participation in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities in accordance with AHPRA.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009) certification.

Other Information

Applicants must be an Australian Citizen to obtain the required Baseline Security Clearance for this role. The position is based at Anglesea Barracks in Hobart and involves working 3 days per week - Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
