Job Description

As a Senior Engineer: Mine Planning, you will play a critical role in the development and implementation of medium- to long-term mine planning for multiple underground operations. This position is responsible for undertaking underground design and evaluation work, calculating ore reserves according to planning policies and legislative requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Undertake underground design and evaluation work, including calculating ore reserves according to planning policies and legislative requirements.
  • Handle medium- and long-term design and scheduling, including capital planning for exploration, ventilation, dewatering, and backfill.
  • Collaborate and contribute to mining technical projects at various stages of development.
  • Develop strong networks with operational personnel to enable support to departments.
  • Create, develop, and maintain adherence to appropriate procedures and processes to ensure consistently accurate, appropriately detailed, timely, and efficient delivery of mining plans.

Required Skills and Qualifications

For this position, we are seeking an autonomous, driven, and safety-conscious individual with a Bachelor's degree in mining engineering. Previous experience in substantial underground engineering is highly regarded, as well as knowledge of open pit mining. Understanding of mining and environmental approvals is also required.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams and possess strong proficiency in mining software such as Deswik, Xeras, and Microsoft Office. Ability to share and grow within the team at Gold Fields is also essential.

This role offers a hybrid arrangement with a roster comprising 5 Days On, 2 Days Off (Monday to Friday), 4 Days On, 3 Days Off (Monday to Thursday), or flexible work arrangements. The successful applicant will be engaged in a Perth-based role with short, rostered site time, providing an excellent Life of Mine across multiple Gold Fields assets.
