Gosford Hospital serves as the principal referral hospital and trauma center for the Central Coast, offering 24-hour emergency services and access to operating theaters.

We provide a range of inpatient and outpatient services, including intensive care, coronary care, general medicine, neurology, renal, geriatrics, general surgery, obstetrics, mental health, pediatric, and emergency services. Additionally, our outpatients receive allied health, dental, podiatry, nursing, child and adolescent, family health, drug and alcohol, and cardiac rehabilitation services.

Job Description

The Career Medical Officer will work in the Intensive Care Units at Wyong and Gosford Hospitals. These units operate as a networked service. The ICU at Wyong Hospital has 12 physical spaces and 6 funded beds, capable of ventilating 3 patients. Meanwhile, Gosford Hospital's ICU has 24 physical bed spaces with 14 funded beds and can ventilate 11 patients. We also manage the Central Coast Road Retrieval Service.

Requirements
  • MBBS or equivalent qualification and current registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate category.
  • A minimum of 12 months' experience in the Australian healthcare system or equivalent, with extensive experience in anaesthesia, intensive care, and emergency services.
  • Proven competency in rapid sequence intubation, central venous and arterial access, PICC lines, and tube thoracostomy, with demonstrated experience in independently performing these skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team, providing leadership and direction for patient management.
