AIA is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our team. As a key member of our legal department, you will play a critical role in providing commercial legal advice to our business partners and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Provide Commercial Legal Advice: Offer expert legal guidance to our business partners and stakeholders on commercial and corporate law matters, minimizing exposure to legal and regulatory risk.
- Act as Legal Lead: Lead on strategic projects, including as a member of relevant project teams and working groups, to provide input on legal issues and ensure successful project outcomes.
- Draft and Negotiate Agreements: Be highly proficient in drafting and negotiating various commercial agreements, including third-party service and administration agreements, agency and distribution agreements, strategic alliance agreements, and heads of agreement.
- Collaborate with Stakeholders: Demonstrate a high level of commercial awareness and understanding of the business's perspective and requirements, working collaboratively with stakeholders to achieve shared goals.
- Make Strategic Decisions: Use strong judgment and decision-making skills to navigate complex commercial and legal issues.
- Commercial Legal Experience: Possess extensive post-qualification experience in a commercial legal environment, such as a top or mid-tier law firm or quality in-house legal department, with strong exposure to corporate and commercial law, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and complex commercial transactions.
- Contract Drafting and Negotiation: Have extensive contract drafting and negotiation experience, including procurement contracts, and be able to advise on transaction structures.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Demonstrate exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to liaise with a diverse range of personnel operating at a senior level, including senior executives.
- Admission to Practice: Be admitted to practice as a barrister and solicitor in an Australian jurisdiction.
