Teaching Opportunity for Youth in Alternative Settings

We are seeking experienced and aspiring educators who are passionate about making a difference through teaching at-risk adolescents in residential facilities.

This is an excellent opportunity to experience teaching in an alternative setting in which you can make a difference in the life of a young person. We believe everyone is a learner, and seek educators who value social justice and equity, compassion, patience, and flexibility.

The Collaborative provides personalized and engaging education to youth placed in DYS programs across Massachusetts. Our teachers have small classes, averaging 5 students, provided work plans for our substitutes and behavior support in the classroom. Students have access to a wide range of behavioral and therapeutic supports available to support their success, including clinical, behavioral, and guidance services.

Highlights of What You Will Do:

  • Provide effective, high quality, direct educational instruction to youth assigned to DYS.
  • Participate and implement effective instructional strategies and research based curriculum.
  • Travel between locations as needed to provide substitute teaching instruction.
