Job Summary

ASIC is seeking a highly skilled Senior Lawyer to join its Markets Enforcement team. As a Senior Lawyer, you will play a critical role in managing complex cases from investigation through to enforcement, including the preparation of legal briefs, providing legal advice, and working with external counsel.

About the Role

The Senior Lawyer will be responsible for conducting examinations, interviewing witnesses, participating in search warrants, contributing to building case theory and strategic direction, as well as presenting to executives and the Commission. You will also help to build legal capacity within ASIC.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage complex cases from investigation through to enforcement
  • Prepare legal briefs and provide legal advice
  • Work with external counsel to achieve enforcement outcomes
  • Conduct examinations and interview witnesses
  • Participate in search warrants and contribute to building case theory and strategic direction
  • Present to executives and the Commission
  • Help build legal capacity within ASIC

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will possess a law degree and admission to practice in Australia, combined with extensive post-qualification experience in financial services, a regulatory environment, law enforcement, criminal or corporate and commercial law. You will have a proven track record in managing high-impact legal cases and a passion for using your legal expertise to make a positive difference for investors and consumers in Australia's financial system.
