The Project

The Borumba Pumped Hydro Energy Storage Project is a key initiative in our company's portfolio, aiming to deliver environmentally responsible infrastructure on a large scale.

The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Environmental Sustainability Specialist to join our team, responsible for ensuring environmental compliance, managing environmental offset activities, and fostering sustainable practices throughout the project's lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement effective environmental management systems to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, local communities, and environmental agencies, to promote environmental stewardship and community involvement.
  • Design and implement robust environmental offset measures to compensate for unavoidable environmental impacts, ensuring net positive environmental outcomes.
  • Provide guidance and oversight on environmental aspects of the project, including permitting inspections and sustainability initiatives.
  • Develop and implement policies, methodologies, and standards to maximize environmental and sustainability management activities and outcomes.
  • Champion a culture of environmental responsibility within the project framework.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, natural resource management, environmental engineering, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in environmental management, including leadership of environmental aspects of large infrastructure projects.
  • Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) is desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, and compliance standards relevant to the delivery of large infrastructure projects in Queensland, Australia.
  • Advanced problem-solving abilities and a strategic approach to environmental planning and execution.
