Director Medical Services

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Director Medical Services to join our Medical Services division.

  • The Director of Medical Services will work closely with the facility Director of Nursing to ensure high-quality, sustainable care aligned with our priorities.
  • They will coordinate across Divisions to support day-to-day operational performance and manage access and patient flow issues.
  • The role will provide a point of facility escalation for cross-divisional patient access and flow issues and be responsible for coordinating the escalation of unresolved front-line issues.

The ideal candidate will have evidence of vaccination or be able to be vaccinated against Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Hepatitis B. They must also hold MBBS or equivalent registrable with the Medical Board of Australia plus Specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

The Director Medical Services will work in close collaboration with the Clinical Divisional Executive General Managers and the broader Gold Coast Health Executive Leadership team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Evidence of vaccination or ability to be vaccinated against Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Hepatitis B.
  • Tuberculosis screening to identify if tuberculosis vaccination may be required.
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed.
  • MBBS or equivalent registrable with the Medical Board of Australia plus Specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (or evidence of significant progression towards) would be well regarded.
  • Candidates without Fellowship may also be considered if they can demonstrate appropriate skills and experience.
  • Participate in a shared after-hours Executive Medical Services on-call roster.
  • Negotiate time for clinical duties if successful applicant has clinical qualifications.

  • Senior Staff Specialist: $251,527 - $266,677 p.a.
  • Staff Specialist: $210,332 - $244,313 p.a.
  • Senior Medical Officer: $182,106 - $210,332 p.a.
  • Senior Medical Officer - No Specialist Registration: $182,106 p.a.
  • Up to 12.75% employer superannuation contribution.
  • Motor vehicle allowance.
  • Professional development allowance.
  • Granted private practice rights.
