Senior Database Administrator

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in database management, particularly with PostgreSQL systems running in AWS (Aurora, RDS). They will be responsible for owning the performance, security, and availability of our databases.

This role requires strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for working collaboratively as part of a cross-functional squad. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience with query performance optimization, schema design, and data modeling.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Owning the performance, security, and availability of our PostgreSQL systems running in AWS (Aurora, RDS)
  • Working closely with squads to shape data models, optimize queries, and support feature delivery
  • Diagnosing and resolving slow queries and bottlenecks, and proactively improving performance at scale
  • Monitoring, alerting, backing up, patching, and upgrading production databases as part of our on-call support rotation

Requirements:

  • Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL in production environments, preferably within AWS (Aurora, RDS)
  • Proven ability to design and evolve schemas for fast-changing product environments
  • Strong understanding of query performance, indexing, and relational data modeling
  • Comfort working in cross-functional squads with engineers, product managers, and TPMs
  • Clear thinking around data architecture, standards, and trade-offs
