About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join our team at Dugald River Mine, one of the world's top 10 Zinc mine operations. As a key member of our geotechnical team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the mine.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide geotechnical services to enhance safety and optimize production, including seismic monitoring and drill design reviews.
  • Conduct underground inspections, produce ground control designs, and assess stope designs for near- to mid-term planning.
  • Develop monitoring systems for rock mass deformation, lead ground control audits, and implement QAQC measures.
  • Manage long-term monitoring and rehabilitation programs for critical infrastructure and collaborate with ACG researchers.
  • Collect and analyse geotechnical data to inform operations and identify emerging risks.
  • Collect and interpret geotechnical data including core logging, rock face mapping and instrumentation.
  • Design and provide operational input into backfill plans for mined voids.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience as a Geotechnical Engineer within underground mining, with a hard rock mining environment preferred.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and influencing capabilities.
  • Ability to engage stakeholders effectively in technical and operational roles.
  • Experience in related software packages including Deswik, Rocscience, RS3 and IMS.
  • Tertiary qualification/s in either Civil, Geotechnical and/or Mining Engineering or Geology is preferred.
