Senior Legal Counsel Role

This is a key leadership position that plays a critical role in supporting the department's strategic objectives.

About the Job
  • This fixed-term role offers the opportunity to make a significant contribution to Western Australia's energy transition and economic diversification.

You will work closely with senior stakeholders, including the State Solicitor's Office and the Minister's Office, to provide expert legal advice on a wide range of matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice on contract negotiation, statutory interpretation, complex litigation, and legislative consultation.
  • Influence policy, draft critical legal documents, and ensure compliance with legislative frameworks.
  • Collaborate with the General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel to empower agency teams.

This role requires a strong understanding of commercial law, litigation, and government processes.

Qualifications
  • A law degree and admission to legal practice in Western Australia are essential requirements.
  • Previous experience in in-house counsel roles is highly valued.
