About the Role

As an Academic Leader in Aboriginal Health, you will contribute to the teaching, scholarship, research, and professional activities of the Allied Health & Human Performance academic unit. Your primary focus will be on Aboriginal Health curriculum development and pedagogies, as well as providing advice on these areas in relation to the Academic Unit's undergraduate and/or postgraduate programs.

UniSA Allied Health and Human Performance offers a wide range of degrees and conducts research in the fields of physiotherapy, occupational therapy, podiatry, medical radiation sciences, medical sonography, speech pathology, clinical exercise physiology, exercise and nutrition, health sciences, public health, exercise and sport science, and human movement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement research-informed teaching methods and materials
  • Maintain and improve the quality of courses through various evaluation instruments
  • Conduct research and scholarly activity, resulting in publications in refereed journals and conference presentations
  • Foster local, national, and international links with relevant professional, university, and community bodies to advance University and Academic Unit objectives

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated understanding of the issues impacting Aboriginal tertiary students from diverse backgrounds and familiarity with Aboriginal communities
  • Bachelor degree in a Health-related field and relevant industry/discipline experience in Aboriginal culture/health/research
  • Ability to undertake a range of teaching duties, including preparation of teaching materials and resources
  • High-level written and oral communication skills and capability to use digital techniques for effective curriculum delivery
  • Ability to enhance the research profile of the Academic Unit through collaborative research
