Job Description

The Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety is seeking a skilled professional to conduct investigations in relation to matters raised under legislation administered by Consumer Protection.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of important work that makes a positive impact on Western Australia's community.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Conducting thorough investigations into complaints and allegations
  • Preparing high-quality written material, including investigation reports and briefs of evidence
  • Providing expert advice on investigations, offences and non-compliance matters
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to gather information and evidence

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct investigations in relation to matters raised under legislation administered by Consumer Protection
  • Compile briefs of evidence for use in any court or tribunal
  • Provide advice on investigations, offences and non-compliance matters
  • Analyse complaints, prepare investigation plans, and gather evidence from relevant sources
  • Assess information received to identify potential offences or instances of non-compliance
  • Prepare high-quality, factual written material in the form of letters, briefing notes, and investigation reports
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations

Professional Requirements:

  • Postgraduate qualification in a related field (e.g. law, criminology)
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a related field (e.g. law enforcement, regulatory compliance)
  • Proven track record of conducting complex investigations and providing expert advice
