About the Role

As a Senior Estimator, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the company's growth trajectory by providing accurate and detailed cost estimates for modular home projects. Your expertise in analyzing architectural designs, engineering drawings, and modular construction specifications will enable you to produce precise quantity take-offs and pricing.

You will collaborate closely with in-house design, production, and project management teams to ensure that estimates reflect modular construction methods and factory efficiencies. This will involve sourcing and negotiating quotes from subcontractors and suppliers for factory-built modules and site works, as well as preparing budgets, tender submissions, and variation estimates considering modular construction timelines and logistics.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Estimate Preparation: Develop detailed cost estimates for modular home projects, including off-site manufacturing, transportation, and on-site installation.
  • Design Analysis: Analyze architectural designs, engineering drawings, and modular construction specifications to produce accurate quantity take-offs and pricing.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with in-house design, production, and project management teams to ensure estimates reflect modular construction methods and factory efficiencies.
  • Sourcing and Negotiation: Source and negotiate quotes from subcontractors and suppliers for factory-built modules and site works.
  • Budgeting and Tendering: Prepare budgets, tender submissions, and variation estimates, considering modular construction timelines and logistics.
  • Cost Database Management: Monitor and update cost databases, including modular-specific materials, prefabrication costs, and transport logistics.
  • Value Engineering: Identify cost-saving opportunities through value engineering and process optimization specific to modular construction.
  • Risk Assessment: Assess and manage risks related to modular building, such as transport, cranage, and site assembly.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with building codes, modular standards, and client specifications.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years estimating experience in the home building industry.
  • Modular Experience: Previous experience in estimating within the modular construction industry is highly advantageous.
  • Time Management: Proven time management and organizational skills.
  • Estimating Software: Experience with advanced estimating software.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
  • Microsoft Excel: Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Adaptability: Ability to learn new systems and software quickly.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
