Apprenticeship Mentor: Women in Trades

We are seeking an experienced and passionate individual to join our team as an Apprenticeship Mentor for Women in Trades. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting female apprentices and their employers in overcoming challenges and achieving their goals.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of apprenticeships and a proven track record of providing support and guidance to individuals in male-dominated trades. You will be responsible for creating and drawing on peer networks and industry connections to help better support awareness of barriers to women's workforce participation and their contribution to Australia's workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide face-to-face support to female apprentices in the field, addressing a range of issues from basic to complex.
- Work with employers to improve knowledge, address unconscious bias, and develop culturally safe practices in the workplace.
- Create and draw on peer networks and industry connections to support awareness of barriers to women's workforce participation.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase completions and participation of women in male-dominated trades.
Requirements
- Traditional trade qualification and related industry experience.
- Experience working with employers to improve knowledge and develop culturally safe practices.
- Demonstrated experience in providing support with pathways and employment opportunities to attract and retain women.
- Strong understanding of apprenticeships and the ability to interpret Government guidelines and other related legislation.
- Excellent communication, liaison, and networking capabilities.
