About the Role:

We are looking for a highly experienced professional to lead our Field Engineering team in Australia. As a Chief Data Engineering Officer, you will be responsible for building and leading a high-performing team of Pre-Sales Solutions Architects focused on large enterprise and strategic customers in ANZ.

Your key objectives will include:

  • Leading the hiring and expansion of the Field Engineering team consisting of Solutions Architects.
  • Rapidly scaling the designated Field Engineering segment in Australia without compromising quality.
  • Developing a solution-based selling field-engineering organization.
  • Fostering a collaborative culture within the team, embodying Databricks' customer-obsessed, teamwork, and diverse values.
  • Improving the Return on Investment (ROI) of SA involvement in sales cycles by 2-3 times over 18 months.
  • Partnering with leadership, C-suite partners, and strategic customers to position Databricks' strengths, comprehensive solutions strategy, and build trust and credibility in the account.
  • Enhancing Databricks' brand in Australia through collaboration with the Marketing and Sales teams.
  • Contributing the experience, priorities, and takeaways of the field engineering team to the organization's planning and strategy roadmap.

Key Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in a Leadership role: developing, managing, and building a team of successful Big Data, Cloud, or SaaS professionals.
  • Experience working with strategic banking, financial services, digital enterprise, and telco accounts generating +$1M ARR.
  • Background experience in Big Data Architecture incorporating components of Data Engineering, Data Warehouse, Machine Learning, and Data Science.
  • Experience scaling and mentoring field and technical teams managing both in-person and remote working models.
  • Knowledgeable in and passionate about data-driven decisions, AI, and Cloud software models.
  • Experience establishing processes for technical field members to improve operational efficiency.
  • Proven track record of engaging with c-suite and senior executives at ASX100 companies to drive Big Data Architecture and Digital Transformation.
