About the Role

Mercy Community, a Catholic not-for-profit organisation, is seeking an experienced Spiritual Care Specialist to join their team in Rockhampton. This permanent part-time position offers the opportunity to support residents and their families in a compassionate and caring environment.

The Spiritual Care Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring that Gospel values, Catholic social teaching, and the charism of Mercy are embedded in all aspects of the organisation's practices. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing holistic care and support to residents, meeting their sacramental, spiritual, psychological, and social needs.
  • Supporting new residents with spiritual-needs assessments, care plans, and progress notes.
  • Coordinating linen and vestment laundering and care.
  • Preparing and facilitating memorial/thanksgiving services.

Requirements for this role include relevant qualifications in Pastoral Care, Theology, Spirituality, or Counselling, as well as demonstrated commitment to Catholic teaching, tradition, and ecumenism. Previous experience in a similar role is highly desirable.

About You

We are looking for an individual who possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. A Queensland Provisional Green licence is required for this position.
