Job Title: Sustainable Asphalt Research Associate

The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering has a vacancy for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to develop and optimize novel asphalt material designs. In this role, you will test their performance and durability against traditional asphalt pavements.

\r

You will collaborate closely with the project leader and team to share knowledge with industry partners and actively seek their feedback for continuous product improvement.

\r

This position offers the opportunity to develop your scholarly research and professional activities through your contributions to scientific papers and reports, participation in conferences, and engagement with industry partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize novel asphalt material designs\r
  • Test their performance and durability against traditional asphalt pavements\r
  • Collaborate closely with the project leader and team\r
  • Share knowledge with industry partners and actively seek feedback\r
  • Contribute to scientific papers and reports, participate in conferences, and engage with industry partners\r

Requirements:

  • \r
  • PhD (or soon to be awarded) about innovations in Asphalt and Bitumen\r
  • Demonstrated ability and publications about successful innovative asphalt materials\r
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research with limited supervision\r
  • Demonstrated track record of high-quality publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity\r
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines, and build effective relationships\r
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and students\r
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training\r
  • Demonstrated ability and publications showing successful experimental research on Asphalt and Bitumen testing and characterisation\r
