First Aid Training and Assessment Expert

About this role:

\

This key position involves the delivery of first aid and cardiopulmonary updates to the public, staff of Odyssey House, and students enrolled in various courses. The work may include reviewing learning and assessment resources, quality documentation, and delivering first aid competencies via mixed mode incorporating online access to learning and assessment materials plus face-to-face sessions for observational assessments.

Key Areas of Focus:

\

- Facilitating training and assessment of first aid competencies to diverse groups of adult learners
- Liaising with a team of administrators and coordinators for scheduling first aid training programs
- Ensuring accurate recording of assessment outcomes in the Odyssey student management system within defined timelines
- Meeting the requirements of the Australian Qualifications Framework, Standards of the National VET Regulator, and funding agreements of the Department of Education and Training Skills First contracts
- Participating in activities promoting and improving ways of working including validation, moderation, and quality assurance processes.

- Collaborated with our administration team to ensure that first aid courses were scheduled to meet demand, equipment was ready to use, and enjoyed positive feedback from our students
- Conducted first aid or CPR training face-to-face to groups of up to 12 students
- Marked assessment tasks and conducted observational assessments of the key first aid skills
- Reviewed training and assessment materials and strategies

Requirements:

\

We are looking for an experienced, professional, and motivated first aid trainer who is keen to maintain high standards for training and assessment. Someone who is keen to engage with our diverse students who may be either resuming studies as an adult, holders of under- and post-graduate qualifications in social sciences, or gaining the first aid and CPR competencies to meet compliance requirements of their employer and for the safety and wellbeing of their clients.

To be successful in this role, you will:

\

- Hold current First Aid competencies
- Meet industry requirements having currency as a first aider
- Hold a Certificate IV (or higher qualification) in Training and Assessment (TAE40116)
- Have proven ability to engage adult learners and lead students by example
- Possess adaptive methods for engaging with diverse adult learners and conducting assessments
- Demonstrate understanding of the vocational education and training system, including the requirement of DET: Skills First funding contracts and the National VET Regulator
- Be able to self-regulate and self-monitor own behaviours, practice self-reflection at all times, display commitment to realistically assess own personal strengths, limitations, biases, and effectiveness, and remain open to feedback and constructive criticism
- Possess a valid Victorian Driver's License
