Senior Medical Imaging Technician

This role is responsible for providing optimal radiographic imaging and related services for specialized procedures within the Angiography Suite.

The successful candidate will be competent in adapting technique to suit non-routine situations and have knowledge and adherence to radiation safety legislation and ALARA principles.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Interprets Cardiology and Vascular requests and performs advanced specialized procedures in accordance with Radiation Safety Act and Hospital policies.
  • Programs and operates radiographic and associated fixed and mobile equipment to provide optimal diagnostic and interventional imaging.
  • Provides appropriate diagnostic images in accordance with the ALARA principle, ensuring image quality and scope of examinations is sufficient to provide diagnostic information for clinical requirements.
  • Evaluates and recommends new techniques and procedures in collaboration with Senior Angiography Suite caregivers and clinicians.
  • Participates in the roster and on-call system to ensure continuous cover to the department for after-hours emergency procedures.
  • Supervises the activities of caregivers, with regards to radiographic practice, ensuring compliance with Work Health & Safety, Radiation Safety and other legislation relevant to Medical Imaging.

Qualifications and Skills:

The ideal candidate will hold a tertiary qualification in Medical Imaging and be eligible for registration with the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia and licensing with the WA Radiological Council.

They will have significant experience with advanced practice skills and demonstrate a thorough knowledge of radiographic principles, procedures, and standards.

The successful candidate will possess strong written and verbal communication skills, with well-developed interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
