Software Engineering Leadership Opportunity

A seasoned software engineering leader is sought to spearhead a team of distributed engineers in designing and implementing cutting-edge Ubuntu integrations for the latest IoT and server-class hardware platforms and software stacks.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in software development, Linux distributions, debian packaging, and high-performance server-class hardware. They will also excel in communication, collaboration, and coaching, ensuring seamless delivery of results.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of distributed engineers to craft optimal Ubuntu integrations for emerging IoT and server-class hardware platforms and software stacks
  • Engage with commercial partners to deliver exceptional, optimized, first-class Ubuntu experiences on their platforms
  • Develop the team through expert coaching, mentoring, leading by example, and constructive feedback
  • Oversee commercial engagements and ensure timely project milestones are met
  • Maintain an unwavering commitment to stringent quality and reliability standards
  • Collaborate with other teams at Canonical to align on product architecture and roadmaps
Key Qualifications:
  • Proven experience working with Linux distributions, debian packaging, and high-performance server-class hardware
  • Demonstrated success in customer-facing roles, resolving technical issues, interpreting business challenges, and effectively communicating solutions
  • Track record of managing or leading software engineering teams
  • Understanding of agile software development methodologies
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
  • Bachelor's degree in a technology field or equivalent
