Our mental health and wellbeing leader will be responsible for promoting a whole-school approach to mental health and wellbeing, supporting teachers to expand their capacity to embed evidence-based strategies, interventions and programs.
The role will involve collaborating with the school leadership team to inform teaching and learning relating to mental health and wellbeing. This will include building mental health literacy among staff to identify and support students with mental health concerns.
In addition, the successful candidate will work closely with the wellbeing team to develop and implement context-relevant programs and initiatives that promote student wellbeing.

Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader Responsibilities:
- Promote a whole-school approach to mental health and wellbeing
- Support teachers to expand their capacity to embed evidence-based strategies, interventions and programs
- Collaborate with the school leadership team to inform teaching and learning relating to mental health and wellbeing
- Build mental health literacy among staff to identify and support students with mental health concerns
About the Role:
This is a part-time position working 26 hours per week from 2025-2026. The successful candidate will be a qualified teacher with experience in education and training.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about promoting mental health and wellbeing in schools and has the skills and knowledge to make a positive impact.
The Royal Commission into Victoria's Mental Health System highlighted the importance of identifying and supporting children with mental health challenges early. This initiative aims to provide opportunities for every government and low-fee non-government primary school in Victoria to employ a Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader to implement a whole-school approach to wellbeing.
The Department of Education has been piloting this initiative since 2020 and evaluation has shown that it has improved school capacity to support students' mental health and wellbeing needs by 95%.
