About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Customer Tribe, you will be responsible for designing and building robust solutions, deploying and monitoring them in production, and collaborating closely with your squad to define technical requirements and architect scalable, high-performance systems.

Job Description:

This is a hands-on, highly technical role where you will work in a fast-paced environment alongside a talented squad of engineers, a product manager, a QA engineer, and a designer. You will be a key contributor to our customer-facing systems, from the website and app to our critical communication channels.

  • Take ownership of the full software development lifecycle.
  • Tackle complex technical challenges with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Collaborate closely with your squad to define technical requirements and architect scalable, high-performance systems.
  • Write clean, well-tested code in our primary stack, while also maintaining and modernizing our legacy Java applications.
  • Instill a culture of strong ownership and accountability for the software you build.
  • Be a champion for the customer experience, ensuring that every technical decision you make has a positive impact on the end user.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • SIGNIFICANT HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE IN BACKEND SOFTWARE ENGINEERING.
  • EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE WITH CLOUD PLATFORMS, IDEALLY WITH GOOGLE CLOUD (GCP) OR AWS.
  • PROVEN KNOWLEDGE OF SOFTWARE ARCHITECTURE AND BEST PRACTICES FOR BUILDING CLOUD-NATIVE APPLICATIONS.
  • EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH CI/CD PIPELINES AND AN UNDERSTANDING OF HOW TO AUTOMATE AND IMPROVE DEPLOYMENT PROCESSES.
  • A SOLID UNDERSTANDING OF MONITORING, OBSERVABILITY, AND THE TOOLS USED TO ENSURE APPLICATION HEALTH AND PERFORMANCE.
