About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to enhance educational experiences at a leading institution, as an academic in Biological and Earth Sciences.

The role involves teaching and pursuing initiatives to improve student learning. You will have the chance to develop innovative approaches, design learning activities, and support students in undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate a well-defined teaching philosophy that inspires student learning, conduct classes, assess student achievements, and provide support.
  • Design and develop learning activities, resources, and assessment using suitable approaches and environments.
  • Initiate experimental approaches to teaching and learning with senior academics' support.
  • Support individual and cohort learning progression to achieve positive outcomes for students.
  • Manage course administration, including quality assurance.
  • Maintain professional development in pedagogy, disciplinary knowledge, and accreditation requirements.
  • Contribute to School meetings, seminars, and committees as required.
  • Lead experimental approach design/development and share it with colleagues as a Senior Academic.
  • Engage and contribute to UNSW's Education Focused community driving excellence.
  • Work collaboratively with peers across UNSW, developing strategies, contributing to idea exchange, and mentoring staff.

Requirements:

  • PhD in Biological or Environmental Sciences, or relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching design, development, and delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
  • Experience using educational technologies and online delivery methods.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence.
  • Additional Requirements for Level C: Experience implementing educational technologies, evidence of teaching effectiveness, and fostering passion in others.
