Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Biosecurity Specialist to conduct inspections, monitoring, surveillance, and information gathering to support national and state-based plant pest and disease projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct surveillance and collect data and samples to support national and state-based plant pest and disease projects
  • Assist stakeholders to manage biosecurity risks associated with diseases and pests
  • Conduct field-based inspections or surveillance, including inspection of produce and machinery that requires walking over uneven terrain, outdoors in hot environments

Requirements:

  • Australian diploma or associate diploma or higher qualification in a relevant field such as agriculture, biology, or environmental science
  • Experience in carrying out field-based inspections or surveillance, preferably in a government agency or research institution
