The Superintendent – Protective Security is responsible for providing expert guidance on intelligence and risk issues affecting courts. The successful candidate will build strong partnerships with law enforcement and court stakeholders and support Regional Commanders on high-risk or sensitive security matters to ensure effective risk management and operational coordination.
This position requires the ability to work in a dynamic environment, responding effectively to changing priorities while delivering briefings, training, and clear guidance to court staff. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential, as well as the ability to conduct risk and vulnerability assessments, audits, and report findings.
In addition to these responsibilities, the successful candidate will be required to lead security operations in courts when necessary, investigate critical security incidents, and recommend improvements. A deep understanding of current physical security and risk management practices is also crucial.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong educational background, including completion of the Sheriff's Officer Recruit Training Program, and a willingness to obtain and complete relevant diplomas and certificates upon commencement. A valid NSW Driver's Licence and current First Aid certificate are also requirements.
This role is classified as a commissioned officer under s14 of the Sheriff Act 2005 and involves performing duties such as executing court orders and court security duties. Appointments are subject to reference checks and may require additional clearance checks.
