About the Role
Our Demi Chef plays a vital role in assisting the culinary team with the smooth and efficient operation of the hotel's kitchens. This includes creating dishes that showcase the best of Melbourne's cuisine, organizing kitchen sections, and ensuring compliance with Hyatt's policies and standards.
Responsibilities
- Prepare dishes consistently and to a high standard.
- Organize and set up kitchen sections effectively.
- Assist the Chef De Cuisine in ensuring culinary standards comply with the Hyatt's policies, procedures, and standards.
- Contribute to maintaining a clean and hygienic kitchen environment.
- Assist with the training of new associates.
Requirements
Previous experience as a Demi Chef or Commis Chef in a similar fast-paced, fine dining or a la carte environment is essential. Experience with both Modern Australian and Classic European cuisine is preferred. The successful candidate must be capable of running the hot section of the kitchen and have knowledge of HACCP and hygiene practices. Good communication skills, attitude, and ability to work in a team are also required.
