Excavator Operator Job Description

Dash Group is seeking experienced Excavator Operators with a strong attention to detail for projects in Brisbane and surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate excavators and related heavy machinery to perform digging, trenching, and grading tasks.
  • Interpret and follow construction plans, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Conduct pre-operation inspections and routine maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Monitor equipment performance and report any issues to the supervisor.
  • Collaborate with project managers, supervisors, and other team members to coordinate tasks and ensure smooth workflow.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Load and unload materials and equipment as needed.
  • Assist with other construction tasks and projects as required.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience operating excavators and other heavy machinery (minimum 5 years preferred).
  • Valid Excavator Operator's License/VOC.
  • Final Trim experience (preferred)
  • Strong understanding of construction site safety and equipment operation.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and blueprints.
  • Experience using a variety of attachments.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and mechanical aptitude.
  • Physical stamina and strength to handle the demands of the job.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience and qualifications for operating additional types of heavy machinery (e.g., skid steers, loaders).
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems and equipment maintenance.
