Job Summary
A Disability Support Worker is an essential role in enhancing the well-being and quality of life for individuals with disabilities. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive assistance, promoting independence, dignity, and a supportive environment for clients to thrive.
About the Role
The primary purpose of this position is to assist individuals with daily activities, promoting their independence and dignity. Key responsibilities include:
Personal Care: Assist clients with personal hygiene tasks, including bathing, grooming, and toileting; aid clients with dressing and undressing, ensuring their comfort and dignity; assist with mobility, transfers, and positioning as needed.
Medication Management: Administer medications according to prescribed schedules and dosage instructions; monitor and document clients' medication intake and any observed side effects.
Daily Living Support: Assist clients with meal preparation, feeding, and dietary needs; provide support with household tasks such as light cleaning, laundry, and organizing.
Emotional and Social Support: Build rapport and trust with clients, fostering positive relationships based on respect and empathy; provide emotional support and companionship, actively listening to clients' concerns and providing reassurance.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client care activities, including daily progress notes and incident reports.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will collaborate with other healthcare professionals, families, and community resources to advocate for the needs and rights of individuals with disabilities.
Requirements
