Pedestrian Mapping Operator Job Description

This is a casual contract for a duration of not more than six months. It's not limited to Sydney, and we will be collecting in most major cities across Australian states.

This role involves physically demanding tasks as part of a team where one person carries collection equipment weighing approximately 22.5kg and the spotter pack weighs approximately 10kg.

The position starts in Melbourne and Sydney areas, and you will travel with the team to other locations throughout those territories. All travel and hotel expenses are covered by us.

Living in Victoria or New South Wales area or the surrounding territories would help avoid a 14-day quarantine prior to the start date. You will travel to several designated cities in each state.

  • Work effectively as a member of a larger mapping team.
  • Interact professionally with surveyors/spotters, Field Coordinators, and members of the public.
  • Follow work rules and missions as requested by Regional Managers.
  • Occasionally work evenings and weekends.
  • Operate carefully, especially regarding equipment on vehicles, such as knowing the height of equipment, being mindful of low-hanging objects like trees, branches, and doorways.
  • Protect equipment and securely store it in approved locations.
  • Adhere to security protocols and instructions from managers.
  • Maintain confidentiality of the project and collected data.
  • Maintain required logs set forth by Regional Manager.
  • Operate and monitor sensor equipment daily in the mapping pack.
  • Consideration for equipment functionality is mandatory.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Be an Australian citizen, legal resident, or have a working visa with no restrictions (no student visas accepted).
  • Ability to manage time effectively.
  • Ability to work well in a team.
  • Ability to listen to managers and complete tasks efficiently.
  • Familiarity with maps, phones, and tablet computers.
  • Ability to logically follow technical instructions.
  • Good understanding of the AUS road network.
  • Good communication skills and ability to complete reports for managers.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs, plus bending and twisting.
  • Honest, open, and transparent communication.
