High Risk Infant Specialist

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to fill the role of High Risk Infant Specialist. This position will involve conducting comprehensive assessments of high risk infant child protection cases, providing expert opinions to support Youth Court processes, and engaging with families and carers to build effective partnerships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct specialist assessments of high risk infant child protection cases.
- Provide expert opinions to support Youth Court processes and act as a witness in court proceedings.
- Advocate for service delivery improvements for high risk infant cases and expectant parents under guardianship.
- Support social workers and case managers to engage with and build effective partnerships with families and carers.
- Provide consultation, advice, and training to DCP staff and professionals in relevant external organisations.
- Knowledge of infant physical, social, and emotional development, children and young people development, and the Child Protection Act is essential.
- Experience in the provision of support and advice to less experienced case workers is required.
- Expertise in carrying out brief interventions including counselling, behavioural change practices, and family interventions is necessary.
- Awareness of Aboriginal cultural practices and/or differences and seek cultural consultation to promote an inclusive practice is crucial.
