Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Group Exercise Instructor to join our team at the Park District of Highland Park. As a Group Exercise Instructor, you will be responsible for leading safe and structured exercise classes for members of various abilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Class Leadership: Lead group exercise classes, including kickboxing, step, hi/lo yoga, Pilates, muscle conditioning, and water aerobics, ensuring a safe and engaging experience for participants.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Assist with the maintenance of exercise equipment, including body jars, stability balls, rubber tubing, and hand weights, to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Client Support: Offer helpful and safe advice to individuals regarding their exercise program and equipment usage, promoting a positive and supportive environment.
  • Policy Enforcement: Enforce all facility and program policies, ensuring a safe and respectful experience for all participants.
  • Class Development: Conduct safe and effective exercise classes, incorporating a variety of exercises and activities to cater to different fitness levels.
  • Teaching Experience: Possess experience teaching aerobics to various groups, with a strong understanding of strength training and cardiovascular exercise.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrate knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology, as well as good communication skills, to effectively interact with participants and provide guidance.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This role has direct supervisory responsibility for all Group Exercise Instructors, requiring strong leadership and management skills.

Requirements
  • Certifications: Hold primary group exercise certifications from one of the following: ACE, AFFA, ACSM, NETA, AEA, IFTA, or SCW.
  • Scheduling: Possess a flexible schedule with the ability to teach evenings, weekends, and holidays.
