Purpose of the Position

The Senior Financial Accountant will support the Manager, Financial Accounting in meeting the deliverables of the Financial Accounting Team, including timely and accurate month-end close tasks, balance sheet reconciliation preparation, shareholder reporting, preparation of IFRS financial statements and accounting position papers, and supporting the external audit process.


Your Key Responsibilities

Reporting

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process in collaboration with the Business Performance Management team and other key stakeholders.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting of financial and non-financial information to shareholders.
  • Prepare Audit and Risk Committee accounting papers.
  • Prepare technical accounting position papers.

Compliance

  • Prepare ASIC statutory financial statements for entities.
  • Prepare audit working papers and support management of the external audit.
  • Prepare solvency declarations and shareholder distribution statements.

Financial Accounting and Advice

  • Undertake financial accounting month-end activities such as posting general journals, intercompany eliminations, balance sheet reconciliation preparation, etc.
  • Prepare tax effect accounting calculations and liaise with the Taxation Team to ensure accurate accounting of key tax positions.
  • Participate in finance projects, including system improvements, process efficiencies, etc.
  • Prepare accounting papers to support key accounting treatment/s.
  • Update accounting policies and procedures as required.
  • Advise business stakeholders on key accounting treatments to optimize commercial outcomes.

Team Management

  • Responsible for coaching and performance of two direct reports.
  • Work collaboratively with the Manager, Financial Accounting to manage entities.
