
Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Drug and Alcohol Clinician to join our team in Moruya. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence-based care to support recovery, reduce harm, and promote wellbeing in a rural setting.
The Magistrates Early Referral into Treatment (MERIT) program is a court diversion initiative that offers an opportunity for individuals with drug and alcohol problems to address their substance use, associated lifestyle, and health issues. You will work closely with clients and the multidisciplinary team to deliver tailored interventions and support lasting change.
This role requires a tertiary qualification and current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist, or Psychologist. Alternatively, you may have a tertiary qualification for Social Worker, Counsellor, or Welfare Officer with eligibility for membership of the relevant professional association.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience of holistic treatment and prevention approaches in the alcohol and other drugs field are essential. This includes screening, assessment, brief intervention, withdrawal management, contributing to treatment and discharge planning, referral, group work, and community follow-up.
You will also need applied knowledge and competency in case management and treatment options for people and their families who present with problematic or harmful drug use. Liaison and working in partnership with government and non-government services and community groups are also key aspects of this role.
The successful candidate will possess high-level communication skills, advanced written and oral communication, and competent computer skills. A current unrestricted drivers' licence and the ability to drive/travel as required are also necessary.
