Job Overview

This role involves assisting families and carers of individuals living with mental illness to achieve coping strategies and enhance their overall well-being.

The successful candidate will provide emotional support, guidance and individual coaching/counselling to identified carer needs, as well as facilitate access to relevant services.

Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining links with service providers, carers and consumer groups, planning and promoting mental health education programs, and advocating for carers where necessary.

Requirements

A minimum of a Diploma in mental health or community services related discipline is required, along with previous experience in a support worker or related role.

Candidates should have an in-depth understanding of issues pertaining to mental illness and disabilities, as well as experience in group facilitation and effective communication skills.

Additional requirements include the ability to work autonomously, negotiate effectively, and solve problems in challenging situations.

Strong interpersonal skills, Microsoft Office competence, and a valid driver's license are also essential.

Working with vulnerable populations requires a high level of empathy and cultural sensitivity.

This position involves vaccinating against COVID-19, adhering to Stride policy, and working within the Disability Services Acts and Standards and Work Health & Safety Act.
