Key Responsibilities:

As a CSSD Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the implementation and maintenance of sterilizing practice standards AS/NZ 4187 (2003) and infection control in all work areas of the department.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Perform duties in decontamination, packing, sterilization, and loan instruments areas.
  • Manage a team of 10 staff members to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Collect, clean, and decontaminate soiled equipment used by the operating suite.
  • Load and unload ultrasonic, instrument washers, dryers, and sterilizers according to instructions.
  • Inspect and reassemble items as required.
  • Prepare, check, and package instruments and loan sets for sterilization.
  • Inform CSSD Manager/Floor Co-ordinator of any deviations from normal procedures.

Essential Criteria:

  • Cert IV in sterilizing - highly desirable or with the option of completing a Cert IV on site via correspondence.
  • Experience managing a team is desired.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Computer literacy, e.g., tracking systems.
  • Ability to take direction from in charge personnel.
