The role of Food Safety and Sanitation Specialist plays a vital part in ensuring the effective delivery of these standards by championing, coaching, and improving the H&S and food safety culture across our Ballarat site.

We're looking for an experienced professional to lead the Sanitation Team, collaborate cross-functionally to ensure legislative requirements are met, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) are being upheld, and customer expectations are exceeded.

About the Role

  • Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions to improve sanitation practices
  • Identify root causes of micro issues related to sanitation and develop strategies to reduce deviations in Environmental Monitoring results
  • Work with Shift Managers and the Training Coordinator to provide comprehensive sanitation and hygiene training to team members, enabling them to safely and confidently undertake cleaning and sanitation activities
  • Design and implement a Master Sanitation Schedule to meet the plant's needs while complying with customer and McCain food safety standards
  • Plan and execute all sanitation and cleaning activities on designated days
  • Conduct compliance audits and inspections of internal hygiene standards and documentation
  • Ensure hygiene validation and verification activities are documented and adhere to cleaning schedules

About You

  • Proven experience in leading hygiene teams, leveraging coaching, development, and recognition to drive exceptional performance
  • Broad knowledge of operations, quality assurance, technical aspects, and engineering
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to derive insights from complex data
  • Ability to navigate ambiguous and complex situations effectively, making informed decisions to drive business outcomes
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Understanding and experience with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • Proficiency in implementing change management strategies and principles
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well and influence others effectively

Estimated Salary Range: AU$95,000 - AU$110,000 per annum
