Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our Clinical Services team at Northcott. As an Advanced Practitioner, you will play a key role in delivering Person Centred Behaviour Support to customers, services, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Supervise and Support Colleagues: Provide guidance and support to Core and Proficient Behaviour Support Practitioners to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality Behaviour Support.
  2. Complex Caseload Management: Manage a complex caseload of Behaviour Support cases, providing Person Centred Behaviour Support to customers with diverse needs.
  3. Training and Development: Deliver Person Centred Behaviour Support training to staff as required, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality Behaviour Support.
  4. Community Engagement: Network and build relationships with the local community, identifying opportunities for collaboration and partnership.
  5. Capacity Building: Work with various stakeholders, customers, and consumers to build capacity and promote independence.
  6. Project Work: Participate in project work as identified, contributing to the development of new initiatives and programs.
  7. Northcott Values: Demonstrate and embody Northcott's core values of innovation, respect, and bravery in all aspects of your work.
Requirements
  1. Experience: Minimum ten years' experience working with diverse people with disabilities, including those with complex needs.
  2. Behaviour Support Experience: Minimum five years' experience working in a Behaviour Support role, with a focus on delivering Person Centred Behaviour Support.
  3. Mentoring Experience: Minimum five years' experience mentoring staff to implement Behaviour Support Plans.
  4. Positive Behaviour Support: Experience working with customers, staff, and families using a Positive Behaviour Support approach.
  5. Person Centred Approach: Experience working within a Person Centred approach, prioritizing customer needs and preferences.
  6. Capacity Building: A passion for capacity building and customer rights, with a focus on promoting independence and self-advocacy.
  7. Caseload Management: Demonstrated ability to manage a diverse caseload in an efficient and effective manner.
  8. Technology Skills: Confidence using new technologies to support Behaviour Support delivery.
  9. Eligibility: Eligibility to work as an NDIS Commission approved Advanced Practitioner.
  10. Qualifications: Tertiary qualification in Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Nursing, Social or Health Sciences, or completion of the Positive Approach to Behaviour Support Core Standard.
  11. Driver's License: Current driver's license.
